    Description

    The VIN for this vehicle is NEBR009620. This is a replica of a 1962 Austin Healey built from a kit manufactured in 1993 by Classic Roadsters, Ltd, named the Sebring 5000/MX.  This car was assembled by an individual and not by me or Classic Roadsters, Ltd.
    Why am I selling this car? My wife and I are moving out of state and retiring to a condo. Our condo comes with only one deeded parking spot so I needed to sell some of my vehicles.
    It comes equipped with a Ford 302 V8 engine with a 600 CFM four barrel Holley carburetor and Performer 289 Edelbrock intake manifold. It has an MSD Blaster 2F Coil, Ford High Performance, MSD Ford-Commercial Ignition Module and Accel electronic distributor.  It has a Ford automatic transmission with a B&M Street Rod Street Stick Shifter. It is dual exhaust.  All gauges are VDO. There are disc brakes in front and drums brakes in the rear. The suspension, equipped with Koni shocks, is a firm ride which feels as if you are driving on rails.  The car sits on Eagle Alloy wheels and BF Goodrich P215 65R1595s tires in the rear and P205/60R15 90s tires in the front.  Unlike actual Austin Healeys, this car came with flared wheel openings which accommodate larger tires than the skinny tires found on original Healeys. I had an original 1955 Austin Healey 100-4 and this car handles much better than that car because of its bigger footprint. It is equipped with a radio/cassette player, heat and air conditioning, roll up windows and a Grant Signature Series tilt steering wheel. The car does not have power steering. The wheels are five bolt.  The body is fiberglass. I have the original build sheet which, of course, will convey to the buyer of this vehicle.
    This car just had its Virginia annual inspection last week. (see pic)
    If you look closely, the shade of green on this car is slightly different from the front of the doors to the rear of the car than the green that is on the front fenders and hood. Years ago, I was at a stoplight behind an ice cream truck and we were both getting ready to make a left turn. The truck started making the turn and then abruptly started to turn into a convenience store parking lot.  I was following too closely, diverted my attention for a millisecond and tapped into his rear bumper. I was going less than 1 mile per hour, nevertheless, it crunched the left front headlight and did very slight damage to the left fender. There was no damage at all to the mechanicals of the vehicle. I drove it to an auto body shop for the repairs and told them to go ahead and spray the entire front end rather than just the left front fender because the paint was showing some wear while the rear portion of the car looked great.  I told them to take their time with the car because winter was quickly approaching and I wasn’t going to drive it in the winter anyway.  They had the car for about five months and I drove it home, not noticing the difference in colors.  Several weeks later, I took the car out of my garage, noticed the difference and called the auto body shop to have it rectified, only to find out that they had gone out of business. If I were to keep this car, I would do a respray but frankly, it doesn’t look bad. The paint overall is looking tired up close but looks fine from 20 feet away.  There are small areas on the front of the car on top where the paint is “buckling”. I tried to capture this in pictures but was unable because of the shine bouncing of the hood and fenders. The tops of the left and right rear fenders have some fading. This car has been garaged its entire life.
    The car does run hot driving around town but is fine at highway speed.  I do not know what is causing it to run hot and I have never let it get to the point where it overheated.   My mechanic does not have time to look at it as he is swamped by folks who are trying to get their daily transportation repaired after this Covid situation. Our move has come on suddenly because of the delay caused by Covid and I don’t have time to get this issue diagnosed before we move and need to sell the vehicle. If I were keeping this car, I would have this running hot issue taken care of.
    The air conditioning has a slow leak and needs recharging.
    The top has a slight 2 inch tear in the material near the point where the top connects to the top of the windshield frame.  It does not need a complete new top.
    The tires on this car may well be original as I have never replaced them but they are old, even though they appear almost new. If I were keeping this car and driving it, I would probably replace the tires unless a good mechanic said it wasn’t necessary.  Iam not a tire expert.
    This car is a blast to drive and gets a lot of attention. My mechanic told me that I need to “drive the hell out of it” since it sat all year during Covid. Personally, I think Austin Healeys are the most beautiful sports cars and this replica combines those looks with an aggressive look and stance.
